The UK Government recently issued a reminder to all drivers who passed their test before 2015 to check their photocard licence to avoid fines of up to £1,000.
UK law requires that photocard driving licences be renewed every 10 years to ensure accuracy and comply with regulations. Driving with an out-of-date photo on your driving licence is considered a fineable offence under the Road Traffic Act 1988.
Appearances can change over time. It is important that photocard licences are updated to provide police and other enforcement agencies with the best possible photograph to allow them to accurately check whether a driving licence is being used fraudulently. This helps prevent driving licence impersonation and stop potentially dangerous unqualified or disqualified drivers from driving on our roads.
It is a legal requirement for all businesses to check that their drivers have a valid driving licence when driving for their company. Finding time to carry out these licence checks can be a challenge, especially for those managing a busy fleet with a lot of drivers.
Silvey Fleet’s Miles Monitor can do the licence checking for you, helping ensure your drivers have the correct, up to date documentation in place. The initial licence check can be completed within minutes of the driver giving their consent. Thereafter, we can conduct annual checks for all your drivers, as well as for new ones, helping ensure you meet your obligations.
Many of Silvey Fleet’s customers rely on Miles Monitor licence checking service to ensure compliance is met; using this service not only saves time but also provides valuable peace of mind.
